Landrace/Large White x Purebred Mangalitsa   Our particular sows were owned by local Amish whom hand raise the piglets for Whole Foods.  Thus, we did a good bit of study to find the best crosses for the Purebred Mangalitsa.  Why this is a special cross?  Answer: Swabian Hall This is our own version of the Swabian Hall famed pigs from Germany.  We have replaced the Meishan with Mangalitsa as they are fatty pigs and very similar.  In the near future, we will also offer the same cross but with the Purebred Meishan crossed with our Landrace which will completely mimic the Swabian Hall pigs more closely than any in the USA.  The Mangalitsa brings a lot to the table as you may already know.  Mangalitsa fat content is 12-16% less saturated fatty acids and 8-10% more unsaturated fatty acids than the modern pig breeds.  The Mangalitsa also are high in omega-3 fatty acids and natural antioxidants.   Amazing results for a lard type pig. Our pigs are bred by Amish with our pure Blonde Mangalitsa boars.  They are put on pasture to be grass fed along with acorns from our Missouri oaks as well  as supplemented with our own non-GMO corn, barley, amaranth and minerals.  Piglets were born April-May 2014. Berkshire pigs need no introduction to those pork aficionados.  This is a highly marbled red pork that for many many years has been considered the top Pork available in the USA.  That is until the Mangalitsa pigs showed up.  Many believe the Berkshire have maybe the best tasting pork outside of the Mangalitsa as well.  It is similar to comparing Kobe beef  to Angus.  A cross between the two is a perfect match for Pork Heaven.  Get in your orders now!
